The Commander size shortens the barrel to about 4.25 inches; the Officer size shortens the barrel to about 3.5 inches and the grip as well. Makers use their own names: Kimber’s Pro models have a 4-inch barrel and its Ultra models a 3-inch barrel; the Springfield EMP is a compact 1911 with a 3-inch barrel. Exact sizes vary by model.

- Concealed carry (most owners): an IWB holster at 3–4 o’clock. The 1911 is thin, so a Commander or Officer hides well under an untucked shirt; the grip length is what prints.

Will a Commander holster fit an Officer 1911?
No. The Officer has a shorter slide and grip. Choose your exact model in the Gun Models menu.
Can I carry a compact 1911 cocked and locked in leather?
Yes, that is how most 1911s are carried. A thumb-break holster places a strap between the hammer and the slide for extra security.
Is there a left-handed version?
Yes. Every design is available in left-hand at the same price.
